Industrial producer prices up marginally in the EU in December 2024

On a year-on-year basis, industrial producer prices rose marginally (0.1%) in the European Union in December 2024, while remaining stable in the euro area, new data from Eurostat has found.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial producer prices rose marginally (0.1%) in the European Union in December 2024, while remaining stable in the euro area, new data from Eurostat has found.

The annual average of industrial producer prices for the year 2024, compared with 2023, decreased by 4.2% in the euro area and by 4.0% in the EU, the data showed.

On a month-on-month basis, meanwhile, industrial producer prices increased by 0.4% in both the euro area and the EU.

Prices by segment

In the EU, prices increased by 0.1% for intermediate goods, decreased by 1.4% for energy, increased by 1.6% for capital goods, increased by 0.8% for durable consumer goods, and increased by 1.9% for non-durable consumer goods, Eurostat‘s data showed. Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.0%.

The biggest annual increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland, where prices rose 11.1%, Bulgaria (6.6%), and Denmark (4.7%), while the largest decreases were observed in Slovakia, which was down -17.0%, Luxembourg (-4.2%), and France (-3.8%).

On a month-on-month basis, however, the highest monthly increases were recorded in Bulgaria (5.1%), Croatia (2.4%), and Slovakia (1.5%), while the largest decreases were observed in Ireland (-1.5%), Romania (-1.3%), and the Netherlands (-0.4%). Read more here.
