Populist parties on the rise
Recently, German chancellor Olaf Scholz warned of rising support for right-wing populist parties as the European Elections near, suggesting that said parties would dismantle the EU’s prosperity and longstanding values.
“Right-wing populists are campaigning against our united Europe and its values,” Scholz was quoted as saying at a meeting in Bucharest. “They are ready to destroy what we have built up over decades. They threaten our prosperity built on our joint European market.”
