Ireland and Latvia both reported a 8.7% annual increase in industrial production in October 2025, the highest in the European Union, new data from Eurostat has revealed.
Other countries to report a notable increase in industrial production included Greece (+6.9%), Sweden (+5.7%), Croatia (+5.5%) and Austria (+5.1%).
Several EU member states also recorded a year-on-year decrease in industrial production, with the biggest declines reported in Bulgaria (-7.6%), Slovakia (-3.7%) and Hungary (-2.6%).
Industrial production in the EU
Overall, across the EU, seasonally adjusted industrial production rose by 1.9% in October 2025, compared to the corresponding month a year ago, while in the euro area, production was up 2.0%.
In terms of the main components of industrial production, at EU level, production rose by 0.5% for intermediate goods, by 3.4% for energy and by 1.1% for capital goods.
Industrial production of durable consumer goods was also up, year-on-year, by 0.5%, while non-durable consumer goods was up 4.4%.
On a month-on-month basis, meanwhile, seasonally adjusted industrial production was up by 0.3% in the EU and by 0.8% in the euro area, compared to a 1.0% increase in the EU and 0.2% gain in the euro area the previous month, according to Eurostat. Read more here.
