Other countries to see a notable annual increase in construction output included Bulgaria (+7.0%) and Belgium (+6.6%), while the biggest decreases were seen in Slovenia (-5.9%), Poland (-4.3%) and Slovakia (-2.1%), the data showed.

Across the EU

Across the European Union, production in construction increased by 2.5% in the EU in April 2025, compared to the corresponding month a year earlier, while in the euro area, it rose by 3.0%.

On a sector-by-sector basis, EU production in construction increased by 0.5% for construction of buildings, by 2.4% for civil engineering, and by 2.6% for specialised construction activities, compared to the same month a year earlier.

In the euro area specifically, production was up 1.7% for construction of buildings, 3.3% for civil engineering, and 2.4% for specialised construction activities, Eurostat’s data showed.

Annual increase data was unavailable for several EU member states, including Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Malta. Read more here.
