Estonia reported the highest annual increase in services production in the EU in November 2024, with a 13.8% gain, new data from Eurostat has revealed.
Other countries to report a notable increase in services production included Lithuania (+9.2%) and Luxembourg (+8.6%), with France (4.2%), Bulgaria (3.2%), Spain (2.7%) and Slovakia (2.3%) among the countries reporting more modest increases.
Services production decline was most pronounced in Denmark, which reported a 13.5% annual decrease, followed by Romania (-7.6%), while Greece and Malta (both -2.8%) saw a more modest decline. No data was available for Ireland, Cyprus, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Services production in EU
Across the European Union, seasonally adjusted services production increased by 1.6% in the European Union, and by 2.0% in the euro area.
In the EU, services production increased in most segments – in accommodation and food services it rose by 3.7%, in information and communication it was up by 4.1%, real estate activities were up 0.2%, professional, scientific and technical activities rose by 2.3%, and administrative and support services were up 0.5%.
Services production in transport and storage fell back, however, by 1.7%, on an annual basis, Eurostat noted.
On a month-on-month basis, meanwhile, services production rose by 0.3% in both the EU and euro area. Read more here.
