Denmark reported the biggest annual increase in services production in the EU in December 2024, with a 15.7% gain on the same month the previous year, new data from Eurostat has revealed.
Other countries to report a notable increase in services production included Lithuania (+13.5%), Slovakia (+12.1%) and Estonia (+10.7%).
At the other end of the scale, Romania reported a 8.4% decline in services production on an annual basis, while Latvia was down 4.7%, Austria fell by 2.9% and Luxembourg was down 2.3%. No data was available for Ireland, Cyprus, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Services production across the EU
Seasonally-adjusted services production increased by 1.9% in the EU in December 2024, compared with December 2023, while in the euro area, the increase was 1.5%.
Services production increased in most segments – in transportation and storage by 3.5%, in accommodation and food services by 0.8%, in information and communication by 3.4%, in real estate activities by 1.5%, and in professional, scientific and technical activities by 1.3%.
In administrative and support services, however, it decreased by 0.3%, Eurostat‘s data showed. Read more here.
