Slovakia reported a 18.5% decrease in industrial producer prices in September 2024, the biggest decline in the European Union, new data from Eurostat has found.
Other countries to report a notable decline in industrial producer prices in September included Luxembourg (-9.9%), Latvia (-7.4%), France (-7.0%), Croatia (-6.3%), Spain (-5.2%) and Poland (-5.2%).
Several countries also reported an annual increase in industrial producer prices, year-on-year, led by Ireland, which saw a 1.5% increase. Other countries to see an increase included Norway (+1.1%), Portugal (+1.0%), Malta (+0.6%), Czechia (+0.6%) and Switzerland (+0.5%).
European Union prices increase
Across the European Union, industrial producer prices saw a 3.3% increase, year-on-year, while in the euro area, prices were up 3.3%.
In the EU, industrial producer prices decreased by 0.8% for intermediate goods and decreased by 10.6% for energy, however they increased by 1.5% for capital goods, by 0.3% for durable consumer goods, and by 1.4% for non-durable consumer goods.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial producer prices rose 0.6% in the EU, with Estonia (-3.6%), Spain (-2.4%) and Romania (-2.2%) reporting decreases compared to August 2024, and Ireland (+4.8%), Finland (+1.0%) and Greece (+0.7%) seeing increases. Read more here.
