What EU country saw the largest increase in industrial production in November 2024?

Malta reported the largest annual increase in industrial production in the European Union in November 2024, seeing a 13.5% increase year-on-year.

Other countries to report a notable increase in the period included Belgium (+8.5%), Greece (+4.8%), Lithuania (+4.1%) and Finland (+3.1%), preliminary data from Eurostat revealed.

At the other end of the scale, Croatia reported a 6.6% decrease in industrial production in November, followed by Ireland (-5.6%), Austria (-5.0%), Luxembourg (-3.9%) and Germany (-3.3%).

Ten European Union countries reported an annual increase in industrial production in the month, while 17 saw a decline, year-on-year, the data showed.

Industrial production in the EU

Overall, industrial production decreased by 1.7% in the EU and by 1.9% in the euro area in November 2024, compared to the same month the previous year. On a month-on-month basis, production increased by 0.1% in the EU and 0.2% in the euro area.

On an annual basis, industrial production in the EU decreased by 1.9% for intermediate goods, decreased by 0.8% for energy, decreased by 2.6% for capital goods, remained stable for durable consumer goods, and increased by 0.1% for non-durable consumer goods.
