The Euro 2024 football tournament is just around the corner, and with this in mind, a new study has determined which kit colour is likely to bring the most luck in the final, scheduled to take place in Berlin on 14 July.
The study conducted by NoDepositDaily.com analysed the kit colours worn in previous European Championship finals, including data from the last final in 2021. It considered multiple factors to create a ranking, such as the frequency of appearance in finals, the number of wins, and the number of losses associated with each colour.
Blue is the colour
Blue, the traditional kit colour of France and Italy, and also featured in the kits of fellow Euro 2024 qualifiers Scotland and Slovakia, holds the top rank with a score of 72.83. It has appeared 13 times in the 16 Euro finals, earning it a score of 6, and has emerged victorious in eight of those appearances.
Red follows closely in second place with a final score of 69.44. It boasts a balanced record of wins and losses, with eight victories and eight defeats. Teams such as Czechia, Austria, and Serbia, among others qualified for this year’s tournament, sport a red kit.
White places third, with a score of 66.67, having been featured 21 times in a Euro final, most often by Germany, this year’s hosts. However, white has also had the greatest number of losses, 12. England, with its traditional white shirt, is among the teams to don the colour.
Black secures the fourth spot on the list, achieving a score of 49.50. However, five out of its nine appearances ended in defeat. Meanwhile, orange, the traditional colour of the Netherlands, clinches fifth place with a score of 37.33.
Other colours to feature in previous finals include green (36.28) and yellow (30.61), the data showed.

A winning team
“Football is one of, if not the most, popular sports across Europe – so the European Championship plays a big part in many people’s lives, giving citizens a chance to support their home nation. It is interesting to see the kit colours that perform well, both in making it to a final and then taking the trophy home,” commented Mervyn Davids from NoDepositDaily.com.
“Of course, there is no sure-fire way to predict who will win the upcoming Euros, but perhaps if they’re wearing a piece of blue kit, history will be on their side.”
