More than three in five (62%) Spanish shoppers plan to buy at least one product during the ‘Black Friday’ shopping period, according to new research by AECOC Shopperview.
AECOC Shopperview’s research found that 51% of shoppers plan to take advantage of Black Friday deals and discounts – more than in previous years – to save money, while a similar percentage (50%) plan to do their Christmas shopping during the period, to benefit from promotions.
Black Friday, traditionally the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, takes place on 28 November this year, however deals and discounts tend to be available for several weeks during the month of November.
As the study noted, some 44% of Spanish shoppers say that they will take advantage of this promotional campaign to purchase products that have just been launched on the market.
In terms of the most sought-out retail categories, meanwhile, clothing, footwear and accessories are top of shoppers’ planned purchases, cited by 50% of respondents.
This is followed by products in the information technology, telephony and household appliance categories, cited by 40%, while gifts in general are mentioned by a third (34%).
Around a quarter (24%) of Spanish shoppers plan to buy food, beverages, drugstore items, perfumery products and personal care goods during Black Friday, with 19% planning to take advantage of travel offers, 17% planning leisure, cultural events and entertainment purchases, 14% planning to purchase toys, and 11% planning to invest in furniture and decorative items, AECOC Shopperview noted.
Transport-related purchases, such as cars, motorcycles, bicycles and scooters, were mentioned by 3% of respondents.
