Housing-related borrowing activity showed a notable increase in Denmark in March 2026, compared to the corresponding month a year earlier, according to new data from Finans Danmark.

As the data showed, a total of 18,379 loan offers were received in March. This represented an increase of 13.2% compared with March 2025.

Within this total, 6,233 loan offers were related to the purchase of owner-occupied homes and summer homes. This category increased by 20.1% compared with the same month the previous year, and was the highest March total recorded since March 2022.

‘Solid increase’

“The latest figures show a solid increase in housing interest across the country compared to last year,” commented Peter Jayaswal, director of Realkredit and Property Financing at Finans Danmark. “The fact that all parts of the country, without exception, are experiencing growth in the number of loan offers for home purchases is evidence that more Danes are once again ready to take action on their housing dream.”

On a regional basis, all regions reported increases compared with March of the previous year. East Jutland and North Zealand recorded the largest increases, at 34.9% and 33.5% respectively.

‘Timing and finances’

“When we see such clear increases in loan offers for home purchases, it is a sign that more people believe that timing and finances are well-connected right now,” Jayaswal added. “It is always a good idea to have an early dialogue with the bank so that you are well prepared and can act quickly when the right home comes along.”
