Ireland reported a 38.8% annual increase in industrial production in February 2025, compared to the same month the previous year, new data from Eurostat has found.

Ireland reported a 38.8% annual increase in industrial production in February 2025, compared to the same month the previous year, new data from Eurostat has found.

This was by far the biggest annual increase recorded in the EU – the second-largest increase was seen in Lithuania (9.1%), followed by Cyprus (6.6%), Luxembourg (6.6%) and Malta (5.8%).

Several EU countries also reported a decrease in industrial production in the month, with the biggest annual decrease seen in Hungary (-8.0%), followed by Bulgaria (-4.7%) and Germany (-3.7%).

Industrial production across the EU

At a European level, industrial production grew by 1.0% at EU level in February, on an annual basis, and by 1.1% in the euro area, Eurostat noted.

In the EU, compared to February 2024, industrial production increased by 1.4% for energy and by 8.1% for non-durable consumer goods, however it declined by 2.2% for intermediate goods ,by 1.7% for capital goods, and by 2.2% for durable consumer goods.
