Bulgaria reported the highest annual increase in industrial producer prices in the European Union in August 2025, with a 9.1% year-on-year increase, new Eurostat data has shown.
Other countries to report a notable annual increase in industrial producer prices for the month included Sweden (+4.1%) and Romania (+3.1%), while Finland was up 2.2% and Croatia up 2.1%.
Several countries reported a decline in industrial producer prices in August, year-on-year, led by Portugal (-4.3%), Luxembourg (-4.2%) and Estonia (-3.2%).
Industrial producer prices
At EU level, industrial producer prices were down by 0.4% in August, on an annual basis, and by 0.6% in the euro area. On a month-on-month basis, meanwhile, the decline was 0.4% in the EU and 0.3% in the euro area.
Looking at pricing on a sector-by-sector basis, at EU level industrial producer prices fell by 0.1% for intermediate goods and by 3.4% for energy, while they increased by 1.7% for capital goods, by 1.6% for durable consumer goods, and by 2.2% for non-durable consumer goods. Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.0%.
On a month-on-month basis, the biggest increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Estonia (+5.4%), Finland (+1.9%) and Slovakia (+1.3%), while Denmark (-1.3%), the Netherlands (-1.0%), Romania (-1.0%) and Austria (-0.8%) saw the biggest declines. Read more here.
