Sweden reported a 13.4% annual increase in industrial production in June 2025, the highest in the European Union, new data from Eurostat has found.
Other countries to report a large annual increase in industrial production included Ireland (+10.5%), Latvia (+7.3%), Belgium (+6.3%) and Malta (+5.8%).
A number of EU countries also reported a decrease in industrial production on an annual basis, with the largest decreases reported in Bulgaria (-8.2%), Hungary (-4.9%) and Slovenia (-4.3%).
Industrial production at EU level
Across the EU, seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.5% in June 2025, compared to the same month the previous year. In the euro area, the annual increase was 0.2%.
At EU level, on an annual basis, industrial production increased in the energy sector, by 3.5%, and for non-durable consumer goods by 5.3%. All other sectors showed decline – intermediate goods was down by 1.6%, capital goods by 1.3%, and durable consumer goods by 3.5%.
On a month-on-month basis, i.e. compared to May 2025, industrial production decreased by 1.3% in the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU, Eurostat said.
The largest monthly increases were reported in Belgium (+5.1%), France (+3.8%), Sweden (+3.8%) and Greece (+3.3%), while the biggest decreases on a month-on-month basis were seen in Ireland (-11.3%), Portugal (-3.6%) and Lithuania (-2.8%). Read more here.
