Luxembourg reported the biggest seasonally adjusted services production increase in the EU in October 2024, with a 9.0% gain year-on-year, preliminary data from Eurostat has revealed.
Other countries to report a high increase in services production for the month included Lithuania (+8.2%), Estonia (+6.7%), Poland (+6.3%) and Bulgaria (+5.6%).
At the other end of the scale, Denmark reported a 10.3% decrease in services production for the month, Greece was 8.8% lower, Romania was down 7.7%, Austria was 2.7% lower and Italy’s services production fell by 0.3%.
European Union growth
Seasonally adjusted services production grew by 1.5% in the EU in October 2024, compared to the same month the previous year, and by 1.2% in the euro area.
On a year-on-year basis, across the European Union, services production decreased for transportation and storage by 1.6%, and increased for accommodation and food services by 0.6%.
Elsewhere, information and communication rose by 4.3%, real estate activities increased by 1.5%, professional, scientific, and technical activities grew by 2.0%, and administrative and support services increased by 0.5%.
On a month-on-month basis, compared to September 2024, services production increased by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.5% in the EU, according to Eurostat.
