Euro area annual inflation stood at 2.4% in February 2025, down from 2.5% the previous month, according to flash estimate data from Eurostat.
On a country-by-country basis, Estonia reported the highest annual inflation rate in February, of 5.0%, up from 3.8% in January.
Other euro area countries to report a notable inflation rate for February include Croatia (4.7%), Belgium (4.4%), Slovakia (4.0%), Latvia (3.6%), and the Netherlands and Austria (both 3.5%).
The lowest inflation rate in the euro area was recorded in France, at 0.9%, which is down from 1.8% the previous month.
Ireland also reported a low rate, of 1.3%, with Finland (1.5%), Italy (1.7%) and Slovenia and Luxembourg (1.9%) all reporting inflation rates below the average, according to the Eurostat estimates.
Sector by sector
On a sector-by-sector basis, the highest inflation rate remains in services, at 3.7%, although this is down slightly on the previous month (3.9%).
Food, alcohol, and tobacco inflation rose to 2.7% from 2.3%, while non-energy industrial goods increased slightly to 0.6%. Energy inflation saw the most significant decline, dropping from 1.9% to just 0.2%. Read more here.
